Jan 26, Tric rated it it was amazing. The focus of the book, and there is a lot of it, is the dueling, in and out of the arena. The main character is a great combination of confidence, calmness, and mystery, and his interactions with other characters are always interesting. Last but not least, the characters here are rich and diverse. The action in the arena was entertaining, though a lot of that may have derived from reference after reference to actual cards in the game Wall of Wood, Psionic Blast, R.fkrstchen of Protection, Craw Wurm, Lord of the Pit, Llanowar Elves, and so on This was sitting in my desk drawer because I had every intention of trying to convert it to a eReader format since the actual book isn’t available that way.

The Gathering 4 No 4. In-fact, It doesn’t ever read like modern Forstchen, who is pretty well established these days. Despite that I still enjoyed the book and plan on reading the next couple of books.
Not to mention unbearably dull. Amazon Rapids Fun stories for kids on the go. I haven’t thought about this book in years. The Gathering that said, some quirks of the magic system will make more sense if you’re familiar with the card game. I don’t want to give away anything, but the treachery and twists make this a fun read. Every year, the city hosts a tournament in the Arena, called the Festival of Estark.
It is what it is, the book wont change your life, but it was a quick fun read. Instead of typing out a page book I just decided to read atena. Any fighters who oppose this are instantly killed by them. The characters are paper-thin and the plot is pretty pulpy, inspired – as several reviews have pointed out – by the timeless tale of Yojimbo. The Gathering 1 – 10 of 63 books. TG CCG series, since it seems to build a world while r.fotstchen the cards as tools, rather than being locked into building the world around the cards. Later, in an effort r.fosrtchen kill Garth and satiate the mob’s bloodlust, Grand Master Zarel and Planeswalker Kuthuman arrange for all the final battles of the Games to be death matches. While in Estark, Garth witnesses a skilled Benalish warrior win a fight in the streets, even though her opponent fought dishonorably and failed to pay the bet.

Read this when I was really into playing Magic and reading about it. In the end you can’t help but feel completely satisfied with how everything turned out. See all reviews. The only slight criticism is the love interests. So you have a mysterious one-eyed stranger show up in town just before the Festival, when fighters although they mostly rely on magic from four houses battle each other until one is declared the best, in view of bloodthirsty crowds.
Even the mysterious stranger is all right for the most part, aside from when the author is working far too hard to make him seem “tortured by memories but still totally a bad-ass fighting machine.
Hammen somehow manages to be both out-of-character and cliched at the same time what was with him unconsciously transferring to calling Garth “Master”? Rather than simply explore the fictional world r.forsgchen game is set in with any old story, “Arena” actually tries to recreate the experience of playing “Magic” games as a big part of its setting.
