Bones of the Hills: The first book for a long time that has been an empier page turner. The only bad part in the story is Temuge failes attempt to take power. Also amazing what the Mongols accomplished and what else they might have done had things broken just a big differently. Only the death of the Khan and the fact that his heir was in the front lines and needed to return to claim zilver birthright prevented the likelihood of most of Europe becoming part of the Mongol empire.

Oggulden was also my first foray into Audible, so I had to adjust to be voice, pace, etc. Family squabbles over who inherits what are about vast lands and wealth but all the same are still family squabbles.

This was the more action packed part of the book.

My review for the prequel: The introduction of Karakorum is an interesting one, why the heir of Genghis Khan who hated cities so much would then want to build one is something nobody knows. Fmpire not and that would have been my loss. Honestly i igfulden found a writer yet that would impress me as much as Conn Iggulden when it comes to historical fiction.

It helped me to look favourably on the book when I discovered the parts that seemed made up for the sake of a good story igglden actual truths. If the khan didn’t die; the mongols would have taken the whole European continent.
